This year 42 Doctoral Scholarship applications were received; 19 for Allied Health, 15 for Medicine and 8 for Nursing.

Doctoral Scholarships were awarded to individuals from the following organisations:

Allied Health

Ms Mairead Cardamone-Breen
Monash University
Project: “Partners in parenting: Evaluating a Brief Online Parenting Program to Prevent Adolescent Depression and Anxiety Disorders.”
$20,000 – 2016, $20,000 – 2017.

Medicine

Dr Shalini Arunogiri
Monash University
Project – “Methamphetamine and psychosis: understanding risk factors.”
$20,000 – 2016, $20,000 – 2017.
Dr Arunogiri was awarded the 2016 Syd Allen Doctoral Scholarship in Health – Medicine.

Dr Samantha Loi
University of Melbourne
Project – “Factors associated with depression in older carers.”
$13,500 – 2016.

Nursing

Mrs Karin Plummer
Murdoch Childrens Research Institute
Project – “The experiences of pain in children receiving Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) Therapy.”
$20,000 – 2016.
Mrs Plummer was awarded the 2016 Mary Patten Doctoral Scholarship in Health – Nursing.
